Michael Petruccelli asks; How do you know if you should evacuate if tropical storm Isaac becomes a hurricane?

Michael Petruccelli says;  Know your zone. If there is an impending hurricane or tropical storm Isaac. You need to know if you are in an evacuation zone or not. Check out Pinellas County’s Evacuation Level Lookup. (http://www.pinellascounty.org/emergency/PDF/hurricane_guide/county_evacation_map.pdf)
Enter your address and you will be provided not only information on your evacuation level, but also the closest shelter, the closest special needs shelter and the closest hotel accommodation.
Call the Pinellas County Interactive Hurricane Evacuation Inquiry Line at (727) 453-3150 and key in your home phone number without the area code to hear your home’s evacuation zone.
Call Pinellas County Emergency Management at (727) 464-3800 for help looking up your home’s evacuation level. Regular business hours are from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
In today’s world of smart phones and technology there is a QR code for that. Use google goggles (www.google.com/mobile/goggles/) or another scanner application for your smart phone.
If you are not in an evacuation zone you may offer your home to other family members in an evacuation zone as a safe haven, an alternative to a shelter.
If you are in an evacuation zone see if your relatives or friends are in a non-evacuation zone. See if they would be open to you staying with them while the hurricane passes the area.
If you choose to go to a shelter there is a shelter list on the zone evacuation map. If you must leave the area here is the web address for the evacuation map that can help you get to safer ground. (http://www.pinellascounty.org/emergency/PDF/Evac_routes.pdf)
